Throughout your lifetime, your skin goes through a number of changes—from spots and discoloration caused by the sun, to rough patches and fine lines that occur with age. Chemical peels have long been a favorite non-surgical treatment for anyone looking to give his or her skin a refreshing, youthful glow—the way it looked years ago (or even better).
What is a chemical peel and who is it best for?
A chemical peel works by peeling away the dead, dull surface layer of the skin to reveal a brighter, healthier complexion. Different types and strengths of chemical peels can be personalized for each patient based on his or her unique goals and skin type.
When you come in for your chemical peel consultation at Virginia Surgical Arts, we will take a close look at your skin and listen to your expectations to help recommend the right treatment for you. Each patient is treated as a unique case, allowing us to provide safe and effective treatments with the most natural-looking results.

After Your Chemical Peel
Recovery after your chemical peel will depend on the peel used for your treatment. Your skin specialist at Virginia Surgical Arts will provide you with detailed care instructions once your chemical peel is complete. Given the nature of the treatment, you will experience some redness and peeling of the skin. The peeling/flaking process may last up to a couple of weeks. Once the outer layer of skin has been removed, you will notice softer, younger-looking skin.
