IPL photorejuvenation is an effective treatment for hyperpigmentation, sun spots, age spots, and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation caused by acne scarring. IPL photofacials are also a great treatment for vascular lesions such as broken capillaries and facial erythema (redness) associated with rosacea. Althought IPL photofacials are primarily used as skin rejuvenation in terms of evening out skin complexions, other added benefits include shrinking of the pores as well as some stimulated collagen. As an esthetician, I love the results that a patient is able to achieve with IPL in as little as one treatment. Quite frequently in my consultations I hear patients note that they want to start addressing premature aging. They want to see noticeable results with little to no downtime without breaking the bank. Rarely do I ever see a patient come in who would NOT benefit from IPL photorejuvenation in some type of way. Of course, skin conditions vary from patient to patient, so depending on the level of the desired results, 1-5 treatments may be necessary, but you can almost always guarantee a noticeable result with as little as one treatment. The process is relatively comfortable, often leaving patients with a moderate “sunburn” sensation for up to 72 hours, a little increased sensitivity but relatively tolerable in most cases. For those patients who are more technique sensitive, a topical anesthetic is offered to increase their comfort level, however, with a cool tip that most newer IPL devices offer, a topical anesthetic is not necessary. The photorejuvenation procedure can be preformed in as little as 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. The nice thing is that the patient can see some improvements almost immediately and they are able to resume regular daily activities right away. Depending on the severity of a patient’s skin conditions, IPL photorejuvenation allows patients to feel comfortable in their own skin again – often without the use of makeup. IPL Photorejuvenation is the non-surgical approach to skin renewal that can transform your looks for the better. Typically once a patient experiences the benefits of IPL, they are proactive in maintaining their results with a professional skin care regimen and a maintenance treatment every now and then. If you have not had the pleasure of trying IPL, I strongly encourage you to do so. The benefits speak for themselves. Call Virginia Surgical Arts today if you are considering IPL, a complimentary consultation will be given the day of your treatment. (757) 430-7690
