Your skin’s health and appearance can change significantly with age. Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical procedure performed at Virginia Surgical Arts to help men and women restore a young and healthy glow. We offer both ablative and non-ablative laser resurfacing to treat a wide range of skin types and conditions.
What is laser skin resurfacing and who is it best for?
Laser resurfacing treatments are a great non-surgical solution for men and women looking to remove years from their appearance and rejuvenate the look of their skin. With both ablative and non-ablative skin resurfacing available, we can treat many different skin conditions from damaged skin to sun spots and wrinkles.
Your laser skin resurfacing treatment at Virginia Surgical Arts
You will have a private consultation to determine the best laser skin resurfacing treatment for you. At Virginia Surgical Arts, we perform the following laser resurfacing treatments:
Ablative: Mixto Micro Fractional Laser Treatment
This ablative skin resurfacing treatment is best for improving moderate to severes signs of aging or damaged skin, such as poor skin texture, uneven tone or color, acne scars, and lines and wrinkles. Downtime following a Mixto ablative laser resurfacing treatment will typically last around five days.
The Mixto laser works by administering a tightly focused beam of fractional laser energy to ablate, or remove, the outermost layers of dead or dull skin. This process causes tissues to contract and tighten immediately and stimulates a gradual production of new collagen over the next 6-12 weeks after your treatment.
While ablative laser skin resurfacing does require some recovery time, the results are often dramatic and can remove years off a person’s appearance in a single treatment. Click here to read more about ablative skin resurfacing.
Non-Ablative: Palomar Lux1540 Fractional™ Laser
This non-ablative skin resurfacing treatment is best for lighter skin treatments, such as smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, lightening discoloration, and a mild tightening of the skin. Treatments with the Palomar non-ablative laser require very little to no downtime—typically nothing more than the feel of a mild sunburn.
Unlike ablative skin resurfacing, Palomar’s non-ablative laser works by gently heating the underlying layers of skin without harming the surface. For the best results, we recommend undergoing a series of multiple resurfacing sessions (about 3-4 sessions with 2-4 weeks in between). With each session, you will notice improvements in the look and feel of your skin as new collagen and tissue is naturally produced by your body.
Patients love non-ablative laser skin resurfacing because there is often no recovery time required. While results are subtle, a personalized series of treatments can provide patients with the natural-looking results they desire. Click here to read more about non-ablative skin resurfacing.
